Why Does ClimbAddict Use Print-On-Demand Companies
to Produce Our Line of T-Shirts and Other Items?

Why don't we contract with a private screen printing company?
Or better yet, why don't we run our own printing set-up? People want to know!

There are several reasons that we at ClimbAddict choose to work with Print-On-Demand companies like CafePress and Zazzle to bring our designs to fruition.  First and foremost, it is the best way we know of to bring a wide range of quality products to our customers in a responsible manner.

If we were running our own printing presses, or even working directly with a commercial facility, the simple fact is that we could not afford to carry an inventory on more than a few designs, on one or two t-shirt types, in a single color.  And, if you are petite or like an oversized fit, or like the shapely contour in a Women's t-shirt, you'd be out of luck, since we'd be forced to focus our limited financial resources on Men's small, medium and large only.

With CafePress and Zazzle, we have the opportunity to offer you all our designs on as many as 30 different t-shirt styles alone, in sizes to fit everyone from Infant to XXX-Large, and in a wonderful palette of colors.  Through our POD(print-on-demand)partners we can offer microfiber tanks and t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies, pajamas, caps, and tote bags too.  AND Sigg bottles, iphone covers, keychains, travel cups, thermos products and many other items!

Of the many t-shirt styles available, each one includes detailed information to help you decide which one is right for you, color swatches you can click on and get a thumbnail of the shirt in that color, and sizing charts to help you order your item with the right fit.

Back to being able to afford the costs of doing business - I'm not wealthy! The money I earn through sales from ClimbAddict and my other ventures has a rather short half-life.  Sometimes the funds have barely hit my bank account before they need to be on their way paying for things like food or gas to get the van to the crags and back. I know that running a business takes money, and the truth is - there are just some days that I don't have any. Frankly, I don't want to ever be in the position of having to ship out your t-shirt instead of eating a meal that day, so I have set up the company in a way that I don't have to be confronted with that scenario. If nothing else, it is honest.  If you feel it's so easy to run a business and front all the associated costs, be my guest and do it.  But don't pass judgment until you have at least tried it for yourself!

Our partners are experts on the field of printing, and offer a 30-Day 100% Customer Satisfaction policy.  If the item isn't exactly what you'd expected, they'll redo the order to make it right, or refund your money.  They're also ready, willing and able to get to work on your oder as soon as you have committed to the purchase.  They don't take days off to go climbing, or live out of a van for half the year on the other side of the country from home base.

CafePress and Zazzle accept a wide variety of payments, from all the major credit cards to PayPal, and they have systems in place to make sure that dude you met at the crag and who's been crashed on your couch with some hard luck story isn't pretending to be you and running a credit card scam on your dime. If worse should happen and you DO get had by some scammer, CafePress and Zazzle wouldn't go broke(or hungry) in crediting your account back, as would surely be the case if it was me having to eat the costs associated with it!

So, instead of looking at whatever negative reasons you can see for ClimbAddict not having more direct control on our offerings, we hope you will see that our choice in using POD partners is actually a very positive one, with both your and my own best interests at heart!  Thanks for taking the time to consider this aspect of ClimbAddict's offerings.  If you still have questions, comments or concerns, feel free to send us a not through our Contact link on the navigation bar above.  We'd love to hear from you, and promise to respond just as soon as we get back from climbing!
